Faculty Positions at National Central University, Taiwan

The Department of Physics at NCU invites applications for two tenure-track or tenured positions with the appointments starting from August 2018. Applicants in all areas of physics are welcome; candidates specialized in high-field physics (laser plasma) or solid state related photonics are preferred for one of the positions. Successful candidates are expected to establish a strong and independent research program, obtain research funding, commit to excellent teaching, and supervise students.  The Department of Earth Sciences at National Taiwan Normal University invites applications for one faculty position in Geophysics. This position will start either in the February or August of 2018, depending on the hiring procedure. The position is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, but a higher level appointment may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

Candidates specializing in survey/observational/theoretical/statistical geophysics are welcomed. The preference will be given to individuals who can offer innovative interdisciplinary proposals (no more than 2 pages) and to work with other groups in this department (astronomy, oceanography, atmospheric science, and geology). Candidates who have experience on big data analysis, Earth system science, interaction of Earth’s spheres, and risk analysis of multiple natural hazards are strongly encouraged.

The appointees should have a demonstrated record in research and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and provide his/her teaching plan. It is expected that the candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geophysics at the time of the appointment with preference given to those with post-doctoral experience and whose interests, abilities, and experience benefit our existing programs.

The Department of Physics of National Taiwan University seeks to fill two endowed chair professor positions in theoretical physics. The Kenda Chair will be awarded to an outstanding scientist working in theoretical condensed matter physics or related areas, and the Chin-Yu Chair will be awarded to an outstanding scientist working in particle physics and fields.

Faculty Positions 

Department of Physics and Institute of Astronomy

The department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant 
professor level, starting in the 2018 academic year. Ranks at associate professor or 
above will also be considered for candidates with exceptional record of research 
excellence and academic leadership. We seek a colleague with specialty in condensed 
matter physics, high energy physics, or AMO (atomic, molecular and optical) physics. 
Outstanding individuals in the fields, biophysics, plasma physics, and astronomy and 
astrophysics will also be considered. Successful candidates are expected to teach at 
both undergraduate and graduate levels. He or she should be able to develop 
competitive research programs and has the potential to become a top scholar 
internationally. Research and teaching experiences beyond Ph.D. are preferred. Under 
normal circumstances, proficiency in Chinese language is required. Applicants should
